We finally got to take our first #vanlifefamily overnight camping trip! After 2 months of hard work getting our new home ready, we are finally able to start taking her on some trips! We drove to Clark's Creek in Cherokee National Forest for a night of chilly van camping. We were pretty excited to finally be able to get out together, build a fire, and just relax for the evening. It got pretty cold overnight, about 28*F, which was a really good opportunity to see how we work together when things get a little less than ideal. Let us know what you think!

Just 50 more days until we make head back out West to find a new home. It's been an expensive last few weeks with the replacement carburetor & the hitch receiver installation. Unfortunately, our van is currently at the auto shop, again, due to an ongoing engine racing/dieseling issue. We hope to have it worked out so we can finally head out for a weekend trip and finish the interior design. At this point we're excited, nervous, and just ready to get on the road to find our new home. Follow our Journey! https://www.facebook.com/dogsandiapers/ YouTube We don't let waiting for a new carburetor slow us down! With the nice weather over the weekend, we decided it was the perfect time to finish Olin's Bedroom with a folding bed rail. This will prevent her from being able to roll off the bed in her sleep or when she's playing in her space. The overhead area will also double as storage while we are underway and allow us to stow our Burley Solo, and a few other items when driving to a new destination! 59 Days & Counting We are counting down the days until we leave Tennessee to visit family in Michigan and then finally hit the open road west. February was dreary, cold, and wet. We feel anxious to start this journey, sad to be leaving family, and relieved that we got the van early with a few months to fix her up. Currently, she is sitting in the backyard- wooden block behind back left tire to keep her from rollin'. She still looks pretty, even without her makeup on. Oh, and here's a pic from her first tow.
We got Olin's room started and even found padding for her bed, which is a huge deal! The van is now jazzed up with the following: New battery, house batt, alternator, light switch and under-the-hood wiring to and from the alternator. Day by day, week by week, she is coming along. We can't wait to take her on a test trip and really warm that engine up! We have been trying to save as much money as possible outside of van renovations, so we haven't been getting on the trails as much as we'd hope this last month. We did have some Michigan friends come in to visit for a day last week, so we took them on a hike up to Roan Mountain and downtown to Yee-Haw Brewery. In roughly 59 days, we will be hitting the road and living in the van full-time. But from there, the rest is unknown! All we do know is that we want to be out west, somewhere it snows a lot. We are so excited to start this trip and actually pretty scared as we ponder the coming days about traveling into the unknown, again. Must mean we are doing something right, yeah?
