We took a drive into Cimarron Canyon on our chase for the infamous Clear Creek Falls trail. September is prime time hunting season! With the hike being on Wildlife Game & Fish lands, we jumped at the opportunity to explore the canyon this week where all hunting was on a mandated break. The Aspens are nearing their peak of sunshine yellows, so it was a beautiful time to get outside!
New Waterfalls are the Best.
We came to a dead end and realized the trail was back at the left turn. We turned around and descended the rocky hill and hiked just under 3 miles rt to this great picnic spot. The trail winds along the creek, crossing over bridges a few times along the way. We came to this first waterfall and continued on to find a couple smaller ones. I busted out the pb&js for the fam, then climbed down to play rock-fetch with the pups. They were stoked to get outside as always.
Fall Colors in Angel Fire!
We dropped the pups off after our hike and headed up to the resort to check out the fall colors from the top of the mountain. We rode up with Olin and her stuffed bunny, Mimi. We made some friends at the top and took in the bluebird day, thinking about what was for dinner later that night.
I can't wait to explore our new home more next weekend and get the Burley out of the basement! New Mexico continues to surprise us.
I have been working on a Bucket List here to inspire your future travels :).
