After a couple inches of snow over the weekend, I threw Olin on my back and we headed off to explore a new trail a few miles down the road. It was in the high 30s as we bundled up for an early morning hike with the loyal Taco. I decided to take turns bringing the dogs on hikes, so we can double up on their training and exercise. The Sangre de Cristo Mountain RangeWith each switchback came clearer views of Wheeler Peak and the Southern Rockies. There were still yellow shades present in a sea of white, showing fall stand her ground. The views here are breathtaking.
We passed a family of deer on our way home which made the morning that much cozier. A mama deer snugged her doe as they munched a grassy breakfast in the mountain pasture. Once I got home, a nice man delivered 2 cords of wood. We are getting closer to ski season, and the cedar smells nice.

Love the Winter hiking in the Sangre De Christo's! I have always wanted to Winter hike Wheeler Peak. It is so beautiful in the Summer, I can't imagine it in the Winter!

Ahh, I am itching to hike in this winter. I was hoping not to do it alone, so I have been putting it off haha.
